Carla R. Weiland is the Chief Executive Officer of Camp Summit.  Camp Summit is a non-for-profit “sleep away” camp for children and adults with special needs.  Since 1947, Camp Summit has offered a unique program in Argyle TX, which offers campers a wide variety of traditional camp activities at a facility that allows even a person in a wheel chair to ride a horse or go down a zip-line.

There are no other camps in our region and only a handful of camps in the U.S. that offer a camping program comparable to Camp Summit. The program is unique because campers are accepted without regard to the severity of their disability.

Carla joined Camp Summit in 2003 and comes to Camp Summit with a varied background in Non-Profit and Camp management.  She is a graduate of the University of Nebraska where she earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Recreation and Leisure Studies with an emphasis in Therapeutic Recreation.

She has worked with numerous camps throughout the country and served as President of the Texoma section of the America Camp Association (ACA). She is a 2001 graduate of the Leadership Richardson program and involved in many community organizations.  Carla is inspired by our campers daily and continues to be an advocate for camping and providing services for individuals with disabilities.
