Michael Mueller – President/CEO, NYLO Hotels

MMueller_HeadshotMichael has been active in the hospitality industry for over 23 years and has been involved in the acquisition and development of more than $20 billion of hotel assets. He has focused on the boutique segment for the past 15 years where his experiences with the W and NYLO brands have made him one of the preeminent boutique hotel executives in North America today.

Michael founded NYLO Hotels in 2004, inspired by his vision for a new class of boutique hotels featuring an urban, industrial, loft-style design and an open, comfortable, fun and accessible atmosphere. As the original founding partner of NYLO Hotels, Michael developed the business plan, assembled the NYLO team and secured more than $100 million to develop the brand and the first NYLO Hotels.

Michael currently serves as NYLO’s President and CEO, with responsibility for all facets of the fully integrated hotel company, including owned real estate, operations, brand and concept strategy, sales and marketing, revenue management, acquisitions, development, accounting and finance, legal, construction and procurement.

Tammy Cancela, Principal Consultant/GM, Barber Shop Marketing

Tammy Good 12 (2)Tammy Cancela is a Principal Consultant and GM at The Barber Shop Marketing.  Named to Hispanic Business Magazine’s Top 50 Women in Business in 2001, Tammy Cancela is a marketing veteran.  Her diverse background includes consumer and business marketing for both product and services businesses with target.

While at GTE, Tammy launched SuperPages, GTE’s (and now Verizon’s) award winning online yellow pages.  Since SuperPages was an early entry in the online business market, Tammy had the opportunity to pioneer some of the online advertising and promotional techniques that are now considered best practices in the industry.

In addition to SuperPages, Tammy has led the market launch of some two-dozen major products as well as several groundbreaking new services.  She has built extensive business-to-business database marketing platforms, launched digital sales channels and leveraged digital marketing tools extensively throughout her career.

Micheal Williams, President/CEO, 3i Construction

Michael_Williams_HeadshotMicheal Williams knows first-hand what it takes to be part of a winning team.  He was a professional basketball player for the NBA World Champion Detroit Pistons in 1989 and he personally holds the current record for the most consecutive free throws.

Micheal is the President and CEO for 3i Construction located in Dallas; an all-encompassing General Contracting Company. 3i Construction opened its doors in 2001 with 3 full time employees and 10 part time employees. Today, Micheal employs over 75 employees.

Micheal applies the principles of teamwork and reliability that he honed as a professional athlete to the management of the company

He is dedicated to fostering each individual’s potential, enabling him or her to achieve the company’s corporate mission via a team-oriented approach. At 3i Construction, no one works for Micheal – they all work for the customer.


Sharon Anderson Wright, President/CEO, Half Price Books

Since 1972, Sharon Anderson Wright has gone from the first employee of Half Price Books Records Magazines to its President and CEO. She has helped the company expand from a single 1,000 square foot converted Laundromat into the nation’s largest family-owned new and used bookstore chain with 120 stores in 16 states.

Sharon began working for Half Price Books at the age of 13, sorting and shelving paperbacks. In 1976, she opened and managed the store in Richardson, and in 1986, became manager of the company’s flagship store. Within three years she was promoted to District Manager of the five Dallas stores.

Sharon was appointed General Manager and Executive Vice President over corporate operations the following year. She took the reins as Half Price Books President in 1996 after her mother, Half Price Books Cofounder Pat Anderson, passed away.

Adhering to the company philosophy that her mother maintained is a major objective for Wright. She continues to expand Half Price Books, but is committed to keeping the company an eco-friendly, fun place to work. She is an avid reader and an advocate of reading and literacy.
